SOUTHWESTERN WISCONSIN ON THURSDAY.

SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA TO PORTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN
ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-94. TWO TO THREE INCHES SHOULD FALL FURTHER
NORTH ACROSS CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND THE REST OF WEST CENTRAL
WISCONSIN. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE LIKELY...PARTICULARLY

CONFIDENCE WITH THE HEAVY RAINFALL POTENTIAL IS FAIRLY HIGH. THE

SAFETY NOTE: Riverboats cannot slow or turn well in the current, especially downstream. One blast means pass off their port, two blasts means pass off their starboard and a series of blasts means I don't know where you're going - get out of my way.

Level: Open Rowing, with Novices restricted to 4-oars.
Prediction: The river will remains about this level, provided predicted rains are not severe.

Due to very heavy rains in the region, the river is predicted to rise to at least 19,000 kcfs by Tuesday. Expect restrictions.

Overview: Today’s rain north of us and tomorrow’s rain will cause the river to rise moderately.

Today: Flow: 10,500, Water Temp: 80F

Level: Open rowing with warning for debris.

Prediction: NOAA predicted the water to rise past August 20th Highs may approach 20,000, depending on additional rains. Restrictions on Novice and others, may go into effect by the weekend.

Overview: Water is approaching "low" levels. What this means, however, is deadheads, which have been knocking fins off boats like nobody's business.

Prediction: NOAA says that provided there no heavy rains, the river should be to pre-storm levels by Aug. 8.

 
SAFETY ALERT!!! Severe danger around construction at Franklin. Constant barge and tug activity. MRC Club and Private boats are urged NOT to go through Franklin. UPSTREAM ROWERS MUST YIELD TO DOWNSTREAM CREWS.

Overview": We lucked out. Most of the rain fell in the St Croix and Minnesota watersheds and south.

Beginning Monday night, Novices and Greens can row during controlled, coached workout and with light winds. Coaches use caution. All crews stay above the 2nd red downstream from Lake.
Expect more restrictions to come off by Wednesday or Thursday.

7-12-16:
Overview: Level 5 today, but about to change.  Heavy rains upstream will cause the river to rise incredibly fast.
Flow: 8200 cfps this morning, and going up dramatically, exceeding 45,000 cubic ft per second
Water Temperature: 80
Prediction:  Highest and fastest water levels in three years. Much debris. Expect boat use restrictions, class cancellations and possible dock closures starting Thursday, and running well into the following week.
Notes: This is nothing to be trifled with. Debris will be heavy, especially as the water comes down starting Tuesday. This will last into late next week at least.

Overview:  Level 5, open rowing by bow list.  

Flow:  7862 cfs at Ford (down from last week)

Water Temperature:  77 degrees!  (If you've been waiting for warm water before you try out a pair, now is the time.)

Watch for deadheads! They tend to pop up in the summer heat.  

Franklin Bridge Construction:  

The last deck panel should have been placed last week.  Work to restore the concrete supports, both above and below water, will continue.

Continue to be very careful when approaching Franklin Ave.  Stay down river while construction crews are at work.

Flow:  8812 cfs at Ford (up slightly from last week)

Water Temperature:  80 degrees!  (If you've been waiting for warm water before you try out a pair, now is the time.)

Watch for deadheads! They tend to pop up in the summer heat.  

Franklin Bridge Construction:  

As of last week, all cap beam are set, and more than 60% of the deck panels have been installed.  Crews expect to place the last deck panel by July 4.  Work to restore the concrete supports, both above and below water, has resumed.
